What we never collect
Your real name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos or advertising ID. There are no third-party analytics or advertising tools in the app.
What stays locked on your phone
Your logbook lines, your plan, your harbour, your compass words, your answers to the starting questions and your check-ins are locked with a key made on your phone. If a locked copy is kept on our server as a backup, it stays locked. Staff cannot open it, and there is no override.
What our server sees
Your nickname, your days on course, which sessions you have finished, your crew messages, the weather word you share each day, your membership status from the app store, and your country and language so we can show the right help lines and prices.
Crew messages are kept so your crew can read them. A message someone reports is kept for 90 days for review. Support conversations are kept for 12 months. Crash reports, if any, are kept for 90 days.
What other members see
Only your nickname and today's weather word, plus the messages you choose to send. Nobody sees your days, your logbook or your plan.
Notifications
Notifications never say what Helmkind is about. You choose which ones you get, and you can turn them all off.
Numbers we report
When we look at how Helmkind is doing, we only look at groups of 20 people or more, and we round the numbers. We never look at one person's private notes.
Payments
Payments go through Apple or Google. They tell us only whether your membership is active. We never see your card.
Your choices
To ask for a copy of what we hold, or to ask a question, write to us in Me, Help. You can delete your account in Me, Account. If you delete your account, it can be undone for 14 days, then it is removed for good.
Version 1, in effect from 13 October 2026. The app shows the same text.
