What is Helmkind?
Helmkind is a self-help app for adults who want to change a sexual habit such as porn use. It offers a free three-minute urge tool called Pause, a 12-week course of five minutes a day, a personal plan for hard moments, and small anonymous peer groups.
Do I need to give my email or phone number?
No. You choose a private sign-in name and a password, and write down four words that get you back in if you forget it. Helmkind never asks for an email address, a phone number or your real name.
Is Helmkind free?
Pause, urgent help, your plan, your harbour and your logbook are free for good. Membership adds the full course, a crew and a first mate, with 7 days free first. Supported places are available if money is tight.
What happens if I slip?
Nothing is taken away. Your days on course never go back to zero. You look at what happened, change one thing in your plan, and carry on.
Does Helmkind work?
Helmkind cannot promise an outcome. It is built on methods tested in published trials, listed on the research page. It is self-help, not treatment, and some people need more than an app.
Is Helmkind therapy?
No. Helmkind is not a doctor, a therapist or an emergency service. It teaches skills from acceptance and commitment therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy, and tells you when it is worth seeing a professional.
Is it religious?
Only if you want it to be. An optional daily reflection is offered for Christians, for Muslims, or shaped by your own tradition. It can be changed or switched off at any time.
Who is Helmkind for?
Adults aged 18 or older, of any gender, who want to stop completely, cut down, or wait until marriage. You choose the goal.
Can Helmkind staff read my logbook?
No. Your logbook, plan, harbour and check-ins are locked with a key made on your phone. If a locked copy is kept on our server as a backup, it stays locked. Staff cannot open it, and there is no override.
What if I forget my password?
Use your four recovery words. Helmkind cannot see them, so it cannot recover them for you; keep them somewhere safe. A copy of the key in your phone's own backup and scanning a code from your old phone can also get you back in.
Does it work without signal?
Yes. Pause, urgent help, your plan, your harbour and your logbook work without a connection. Messages to your crew send when you are back online.
Will anyone see Helmkind on my phone?
Notifications never say what Helmkind is about, and you can hide their text. You can also switch to a plain icon and name.
What does my crew see?
Only your nickname, the weather word you share each day, and the messages you choose to send. Nobody sees your days, your logbook or your plan.
How do I cancel membership?
In your app store's subscription settings, at any time. You keep membership until the end of the period you paid for, and everything that is free stays yours.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, in the app under Me, Account. Deleting can be undone for 14 days, then everything is removed for good.
